I have watched from a distance the Letterman controversy. I long ago stopped watching him when his cheap shots at George Bush went over the edge and into the region of paranoid schizo realm. I had heard he had made some comments about Sarah Palin, and while I cringed I did not pay attention until I recently heard of his comments about Palin’s daughters.
First of all even if one of the daughters is 18 years old, she should be off limits. I do not see Dave doing any jokes about the Clinton Girl, Amy Carter, and he refrained from jokes about Caroline Kennedy till she ran for political office. People related to a Candidate should not be part and parcel of the Political Rhetoric in this country. While the daughters pregnancy is relevant to a minor extent, it should not continue to be a subject for Letterman a year after the race. It is over. It has been discussed. The ramifications on the election have come and gone.
However the Letterman apology was not an apology. It was a cop out from a man with too little courage to admit that HE APPROVES ALL JOKES. At some point Dave made a conscious decision to take yet another cheap shot at a Republican. In this case the daughters of a former candidate who is not currently running for anything.
Why would he and any one else do that? Because they want to destroy Palin before she can gain any political standing in the country. She does not have the same belief system as Dave so she must be destroyed and any cheap joke, any salient tid bit should be used to destroy Palin and make her a joke.
If Palin were more like McCain, this would not be going on. However Palin is not afraid to say the things about Barak Hussein Obama that need to be said.
Obama is an inexperienced man, with NO EXPERIENCE in running anything. He has no executive experience, and he is showing his lack of understanding with all of his travel in the face of an America that can not take even a trip down the street for an Ice Cream.
His wife takes an ill advised trip to New York to see the Statue of Liberty and he covers it up, and some poor jerk falls on his sword for him. Now I hear that Obama’s Mother in law is now living in the White House, and drawing a SALARY from the Government???????????????????????

I am paying for the Mother-In-Law to watch the kids???!!!
I have written to the White House asking for information to disprove this rumor. Hoping to get an answer.

I’m pretty sure Letterman has made numerous jokes about Chelsey Clinton (the one you could remember only as “Clinton Girl”, and let’s not forget his series of jokes about Dick Cheney’s daughter, Mary. But maybe all that happened while you weren’t watching. Tell me the truth, is this Rush Limbaugh?
Letterman has never made a joke about Chelsea, and yes I know her name. YES he did make a joke about Dick Cheney’s daughter. The point you miss is that he is more than willing to make a joke about Republican Children, while laying off the children of Democrats. The Bush girls were targets as well by the way, and yes to a point their actions were relevant since they were the children of a President. HOWEVER the dirt and filth that was NOT true about Palin is disgraceful. There is a double standard in Dave’s comedy. Any Republican is a target including their kids but Democrats are only targets and not their kids. NO I am not Rush Limbaugh. I am a conservative and the fact you would equate my comments to Limbaugh is an honor.
